The system is comprised of 4 components including an automated body scanner, console, tagged cotton, and room scanner. Together, they detect missing and retained tagged sponges up to 16 inches away in vivo, in the presence of fat, dense tissue, blood, bone, and near metal. And the system seamlessly integrates into existing OR processes. The console and user interface provide on-screen prompts that guide workflow, and generate unique confirmation codes of each scan for convenient EMR entry - during the procedure.
