The 5 QT. Covidien Sharpsafety Sharps Container is available with (Covidien 8507SA) or without (Covidien 8506SA) an optional Counterbalance Lid is a safe, secure, and effective container for disposing of medical-grade items. Given its many uses, a container that stores items in a safe manner and also closes securely is important for medical office use.
The Counterbalance Lid is a functional, secured storage container that's able to limit access and prevent overflow. It comes with a forced horizontal drop and a counterbalance lid to assure you get the maximum amount of available space, while also being able to dispose of items with only one hand. An anti-kickback and shutoff indicator with a "full" sign offers more safety for the healthcare professional and anyone in or around the Covidien Sharpsafety Sharps Container. The kickback doesn't allow objects to escape from the container. A "shut-off" sign and valve do two things for the user: lets them know when the container is full and prevents any overfilling of the container. Locking tabs prevent anyone else from attempting to enter the container unsafely. Molded handles give the ability to lift and place the container anywhere in the room and transport it to a disposal area. Its small size allows it to be placed almost anywhere in the doctor's office.
The SharpSafety is made of 100 percent polypropylene. Once incinerated it burns only carbon dioxide and water vapor. It's also autoclavable. Additionally coming in a translucent version that allows you to see the inside of the container — informing you when it's full. However, the popular, red container is also translucent; it just blocks out some of the view of the sharps.
