Procare Abdominal Binder Faqs FAQs

What is an abdominal binder for?

Abdominal binders are used to compress the abdomen area after surgery to help aid in recovery. Common procedures that use abdominal binders are spinal surgeries, cesarean sections, and hysterectomies.

Can you wear an abdominal binder to sleep?

It's not recommended to wear abdominal binders while sleeping, as you'll be vertical, not requiring support to stay upright.

How should an abdominal binder feel?

A binder should be secure enough where it's not shifting around, rubbing anything, but loose enough so you can take a deep breath.

How long to wear abdominal binder after surgery?

The length of time you need to wear an abdominal binder after surgery depends on the surgery itself. For laparoscopic surgeries, it’s recommended that you wear it as much as possible for the first 6 weeks post-op.

How to wash abdominal binder?

Hand washing the abdominal binder in cold water with mild detergent and letting it air dry is the preferred method because the machine can damage the elastic.
