Founder Insights: Why Dermatologists need bttn

We recently celebrated bttn's first birthday. We reflected on what worked and what needs improvement. We are focused on learning from our successes and addressing any shortcomings. We are building a strategy for success in year two and beyond. Our goal is to delight and retain our customers.

Research shows that one common reason new businesses fail in the early years is the business lacks a proper understanding of the customer they serve. Or they fail to understand the core problem the customer faces. Healthcare providers in particular, have been overpromised technology that will "save them" from what ails them. We are building technology not for the sake of technology but for the benefit of our customers.

At bttn, our initial hypothesis – that medical practitioners are underserved by the current solutions – has been validated. Distributors have left behind small and medium-sized healthcare practices in particular. Today's solutions require arduous customer qualification processes, MOQs (minimum order quantities), and exclusive contracts.

Our customers tell us; instead, they want a healthcare distributor that:

🧠 Hires knowledgeable salespeople with a problem-solving mindset

📦 Offers a range of quality, name brand products

👋 Has responsive sales and customer service reps

🧾 Offers consistent billing accuracy

💲 Offers the lowest or most competitive price

Last week, we announced a new experience tailor-made for dermatology practitioners - bttn for dermatology. We have the brand name, preferred products for Dermatologists - the doctors who specialize in conditions involving skin, hair, and nails.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, there are at least 20,500 dermatologists worldwide. That number does not take into account the practitioners who offer services within the dermatologist's office. It also does not account for the numerous cosmetologists, estheticians, and stylists who support their clientele's skin, hair, and nail health. Additional research from IBIS estimates the market size of the Dermatology industry in the US is $7.7b in 2022.

Dermatologists play a vital role in keeping people healthy. Sometimes, skin issues are the first indication of other medical problems ranging from hepatitis to kidney issues. We are committed to ensuring dermatologists spend more time with patients and less time being aggravated by ordering supplies for their practices.

In the two weeks since launching, we have acquired many new dermatology customers by providing them the products they expect, with incredibly competitive prices and fantastic customer service. The Pfizer Lidocaine Hydrochloride and Epinephrine Injection, Baxter .9% Sodium Chloride Irrigation Solution, and B Braun Lactated Ringer's IV Injection have been the most popular products thus far.

We will continue to expand our catalog of products dermatologists trust to keep their patients safe while offering unbeatable pricing, delightful customer service, and free, fast shipping. We also offer full-price transparency,  a unique value in the medical supplies industry. You can go directly to our website and see our prices. No log-in, pre-qualification, or account is required.

We are hyper-focused on our original hypothesis - medical practitioners, especially dermatologists - are underserved. We are building the solutions they need and deserve.
